Splegg's competitive scene was run by a handful of organizations over the years. This archive is built primarily around STA, the source of most of the data here, with the others included for completeness.

Founded by Shaxd in August 2017 (officially recognized 13 December 2017, with Ezkimo as co-founder and JoostOriginal joining as Admin from 2017 to 2020), STA set out to organize Splegg professionally and become the sport's main governing body. Over the following years it uplifted the quality of the competitive scene, popularized it to a much broader audience, and regulated it to protect its integrity — running the full calendar of World Cups, Majors, Doubles/Triples Tournaments, and One-Day-Cups, plus the 1v1 ELO ladder, until standing down in October 2020. STA was the backbone and heart of Splegg during its competitive peak, and is the primary organization behind this archive.

The first organized body around competitive Splegg — officially founded 25 July 2015 by Biplanonde, who had already organized and hosted the first World Cup the year before, in 2014, ahead of ISA's formal founding. Ran the earliest World Cups and other tournaments with both real-money and in-game prizes.

Ran only two HiveMC-era tournaments in 2020 — the Grand Opening Splegg Tournament and a clan-war league — both huge, hyped events. Its two organizers, Chuggins and Exode, disappeared during GOST's late stage, and despite the hype, competitive-integrity controversies and scandals surrounded the org. EGA did push prize money to a new level for the scene; STA later took it even further.

Formed mlli on FieldMC, with several former STA figures (Shaxd, Kikita, Ezkimo, 100YearsLater, jvvst) helping out as consultants and moderators. Active for 2023 only — the Splegg Return Tournament, a fun casual weekly clanwar format competition and at the end the Splegg Major Autumn 2023, the last big Splegg tournament before FieldMC closed in early 2024. Apart from that also weekly a lot of fun events in the ODC format like buddy betrayal, FFAs or team fights; sometimes incorporating other gamemodes and live-streaming the events.
Tournament formats
Recurring event formats
The Splegg Tournament Association ran a recognizable calendar of formats, each with its own abbreviation used throughout this archive's tournament names and match logs.
| Code | Name | Cadence | Format | Typical window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SWC | Splegg World Cup | Yearly | 1v1, 32 players | Usually starts around early January |
| SDT | Splegg Doubles Tournament | Yearly | 2v2 | Typically October |
| SST | Splegg Summer Tournament | Every few years | 1v1, 32+ players | July, in summer — as the name suggests |
| SM | Splegg Major | Every few years | 1v1, 80+ players | A "super-sized" Summer Tournament — starts a little later, end of July/August, and runs long given the size |
| STT | Splegg Triples Tournament | Every few years | 3v3 | Usually a bit earlier in the year than the Major |
| — | Splegg Invitationals | One-off | 1v1, invite-only | Only happened once — held right after the Major, since there wasn't time left for another huge tournament that year |
| ODC | One-Day-Cup | Special event | 1v1/2v2, FFA or elimination | Normally held on a Saturday |
| — | Splegg Divisions | Special event | Round robin, 3+ divisions | Also a summer event |
